The opportunity costs of Bush + Reid + Pelosi + Obama handing Hank Paulson that trillion for his golfing buddies

Interfluidity explains the costs so clearly that the post can’t really be improved upon. So I’ll guote the meat of it: Suppose we pass the “Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008”, and a depression comes anyway, and we cannot raise taxes (blood, turnips, all of that), and we cannot borrow from abroad (because our paymasters have tired of us). ...

The Rap Up: Rayne In Your Space

    http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/ dc9/ 2008/ 10/ the_rap_up_rayne_in_your_space.p…

(Meredith Hebenstreit) Let's just go ahead and put it out there. With the exception of meeting peeps at live shows, few other places have consistently given me fodder for this column than Myspace Music. It's like going to Wal-Mart, for me; I've got my mind set on what I've come looking for and end up spending hours there and leaving with way more than I expected.

Are We Living in a Bubble?

    http://www.wdavidphillips.com/ 2008/ 10/ 01/ are-we-living-in-a-bubble/

Supernova In an article from Foxnews.com this morning, scientists are now considering that earth may be a unique planet.  “Earth may be trapped in an abnormal bubble of space-time that is particularly devoid of matter,” scientists are hypothesizing.

Why dark matter is more diffuse than ordinary matter

    http://blog.chungyc.org/ 2008/ 09/ why-dark-matter-is-more-diffuse-than-ordinary…

It appears that galaxies form around clumps of dark matter, so the large scale structure of the universe is determined by the distribution of dark matter, and ordinary matter is attracted to these clumps of dark matter to form the galaxies we see today.

    A Marmite Backwater

    http://theylaughedatnoah.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 09/ marmite-backwater.html

Dark Matter, Dark Energy, now Dark Flow... my brother directs me to a new discovery/theory. It seems that a great cluster of galaxies that is halfway towards the edge of the observable universe, is moving in a different direction from the general stretching of space-time. It's like a little boat caught in an eddy.

    Dark matter Autobahn

    http://davidkirkpatrick.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 09/ 24/ dark-matter-autobahn/

The universe remains a very mysterious place. From the Space.com link: As if the mysteries of dark matter and dark energy weren’t vexing enough, another baffling cosmic puzzle has been discovered. Patches of matter in the universe seem to be moving at very high speeds and in a uniform direction that can’t be explained by any of the known gravitational forces in the observable universe.

Last Week in Horror: September 14th to the 21st

    http://horrorsnotdead.com/ wpress/ 2008/ last-week-in-horror-september-14th-to-t…

Last Week in Horror found no shortage of minor announcements, but enough of which excite me in earnest.  In the world of TV, Goyer and “TREK” vet Braga sell an intriguing hour long series premise to ABC, HBO renews the proven cool “TRUE BLOOD” and Sci-Fi orders full the unproven “WAREHOUSE 13″.
