Well, it has been a while since I wrote a blog entry, but boy have I learned some stuff!  If you have followed my previous blogs you know that I have been working on developing a program to be run on MIDs.  I started out putting together my development system and creating my program in Linux.  Then

Apparently GNOME Mobile has a D-Bus/Browser bridge

    http://www.j5live.com/ 2008/ 09/ 30/ apparently-gnome-mobile-has-a-d-busbrowser-…

I just found this out after reading and article about the GNOME Mobile release.  Apparently Movial joined LiMo sometime in August and have pledged to release their Browser D-Bus Bridge as open source.  Perhaps this went over the D-Bus mailing list and I missed it but I am eager to look at the code

TIP: A Post For Pidgin Plugin Developers

    http://tech.shantanugoel.com/ 2008/ 09/ 23/ tip-a-post-for-pidgin-plugin-develop…

My Sites: My Blog | My Tech Blog | Follow me on Twitter —- Recently I wrote a small autoreply-answering-machine app for pidgin with a simple premise. Send custom automatic replies to different people when they message you and came across a strange bug. It never sent the reply when you received the first message from someone.

My Sites: My Blog | My Tech Blog | Follow me on Twitter —- You must have heard of (or used) the auto-reply features given by today’s instant messengers that are sent to the ones messaging you while you are not at your desk. But those are one-size-fits-all kind of messages.

    This week in Kubuntu

    http://www.kdedevelopers.org/ node/ 3597

This week in Kubuntu Submitted by jriddell on Wed, 08/06/2008 - 23:41 D-Bus Haven't blogged for a while, so here's some of the changes that have happened in Kubuntu recently. I finally found some time for the KDE port of system-config-printer, still far from feature parity with the Gnome version and needs plenty of tidying up but should be usable.

ibus: An input method framework basing on dbus+python

    http://blogs.sun.com/ yongsun/ entry/ ibus_an_input_method_framework1

As I blog'd before, dbus+python maybe a wonderful technical choice for input method framework. I discussed with Huang Peng (the author of scim-python), we both thought it's worth to have a try. Huang Peng is an expert in dbus and python, after a short period, the project has grown to a remarkable level.

    D-Bus now supports tabs

    http://www.j5live.com/ 2008/ 07/ 12/ d-bus-now-supports-tabs/

That’s right, in order to support the upcomming release of GNOME 3.0 which is introducing a new tabbed interface, we’ve totally made D-Bus HIG compliant by adding tabs to the API.  No longer do you have to select a system or session bus while connecting.  Now all you have to do is select the correct

[ANNOUNCE] D-Bus 1.2.1 released and branched

    http://www.j5live.com/ 2008/ 04/ 04/ announce-d-bus-121-released-and-branched/

Due to issues putting the re-licensing effort on hold indefinitely, it has been decided to move to 1.2.x versioning scheme. Being that 1.1.20 is considered to also be 1.2.0 and this being the second release in the 1.2.x stable series we have versioned this release 1.2.1.

Download pidgin 2.4.1 For Ubuntu Feisty Fawn (amd64/x86_64)

    http://tech.shantanugoel.com/ 2008/ 04/ 04/ download-pidgin-241-for-ubuntu-feist…

My Sites: My Blog | My Tech Blog ---- pidgin is everybody’s favourite IM client. Lifehacker includes it in its list of top 5 IM clients. Obviously I use it too, but one drawback of being lazy and not switching over to Gutsy Gibbon was that I was stuck with version 2.2.0 for a long time.

Thinking about a new IM platform, python+dbus

    http://blogs.sun.com/ yongsun/ entry/ thinking_about_a_new_im

I'm recently thinking of a new input-method platform, that's python+dbus. The advantages are, dbus has the python binding, that make it easier to write an IM server daemon with python. In client side, since dbus also has the glib and QT bindings, it also makes it easier to write the input method modules for gtk and QT.
