    How not to Hear

    http://www.sandeepweb.com/ 2008/ 05/ 16/ how-not-to-hear/

Dear Abhishek, Thanks for investing your time to respond to my post on the recent judgement relating to M.F. Hussain. You misread my entire post by asking me not to speak for you. Upon reading your post, it seems that I should speak for you because you haven’t correctly heard whatever I spoke.

New cartoon mayhem in The Netherlands

    http://fistfulofeuros.net/ afoe/ culture/ new-cartoon-mayhem-in-the-netherlands/…

In The Netherlands cartoon artist Gregorius Nekschot has been arrested following complaints by imam Abdul-Jabbar van der Ven that his work discriminates against, notably, Muslims and dark-skinned people. I really do not have the time right now to write a decent post about this and I am also waiting for more information, but Dutch weblog Polderpundit has dedicated a long post on this subject.

    http://songbytoad.com/ 2008/ 05/ 16/ modernaire-the-culture-of-ownership/

I got an email a couple of days ago from Ruth. You may not think you know who Ruth is, but I bet you do really: she is in two of my favourite recent discoveries, The Moulettes and Modernaire. In fact, the only reason I know about Modernaire in the first place is because they appear on the Moulettes MySpace page.

    http://rooreynolds.com/ 2008/ 05/ 16/ where-do-you-find-the-time-clay-shirky-and…

Clay Shirky and the Cognitive Surplus might be a good name for a band. I found this video of Clay Shirky at the recent Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco via Warren Ellis. It is 15 minutes long, and the territory covered includes… The critical technology for the early phase of the industrial revolution was gin.

    Courage for the Great Turning

    http://namelesscreek.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ courage-for-great-turning.html

It feels like a change in the tides, a turning if you will. Here's one way of imagining it: The Great Turning is a name for the essential adventure of our time: the shift from the industrial growth society to a life-sustaining civilization. The ecological and social crises we face are inflamed by an economic system dependent on accelerating growth.
