1) The Ariel West, one of a pair of new Extell condo buildings so beloved by their Upper West Side neighbors that the neighborhood was immediately downzoned, is scooping up always-pregnant View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck and her third-string QB husband as tenants. ...

    A Quick Group Of Items

    http://ohiomedia.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ quick-group-of-items.html

Just some stuff that's been floating around the OMW Inbox, mostly outside of our immediate Northeast Ohio focus. OK, there is one Cleveland item, which we've saved for last... WSYX HD NEWS: As hinted and expected, Sinclair has flipped the HD News Switch at its Columbus stations, WSYX/6 (ABC) and WTTE/28 (FOX).

The news from Columbus seems to be getting more dire by the day, and those with the power to change the situation seem unwilling to do so (or to be charitable, unable to do so).  Here’s a collection of posts from around the classical blogosphere concerning the situation in Columbus as of late.

    WVH Power Rankings: Week 7

    http://wvhooligan.com/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ wvh-power-rankings-week-7/

I think as we all know by now, the MLS table is very eastern-top heavy here. The fifth and sixth best team in the east would be the top team in the west right now. The tough part, if the playoff were to start today one eastern side would be totally out of luck due to the new playoff system.

Week 7 Recap: The Woeful West

    http://mls.theoffside.com/ real-salt-lake/ week-7-recap-the-woeful-west.html

Emergent trends are continuing. The Crew keep winning. DC keeps losing. United were the only team from this weekend’s games to not find the net. They seem to have problems. The Galaxy couldn’t outscore New York. However, some trends are changing - San Jose scored two goals, the same total for their whole season before this game.

    Columbus Hosting Start-Up Weekend

    http://www.delawareohrealestate.com/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ columbus-hosting-start-up-wee…

Columbus will host a Start-Up Weekend on July 18-20 at the Tech Columbus facility. The event is coming to Columbus in large-part thanks to the efforts of Delaware resident (and fellow REALTOR) Rocky VanBrimmer. The concept is that a group of start-up minded individuals get together over a weekend and spend the weekend creating and launching a new company.

Catfish open home stand with win

    http://basilsblog.net/ 2008/ 05/ 12/ catfish-open-home-stand-with-win-2/

The best answer for a case of the Mondays is ending the Monday on a good note. And the Columbus Catfish did just that tonight, beating the Hickory Crawdads (Pirates) 6-4. The Catfish put a pair of runs across the plate in the 1st inning. With 1 out, SS Shawn O'Malley singled, his 7th game game with the Catfish, and his 7th game with a hit.

WVH Weekly Awards: Rogers Takes Week 7 Award

    http://wvhooligan.com/ 2008/ 05/ 12/ wvh-weekly-awards-rogers-takes-week-7-award…

Time to put week seven in the books here. A few guys had solid weeks but this week one guy jumped out at me more so than anyone else. Columbus Crew’s youngster Robbie Rogers netted two goals to help guide the Crew from behind against San Jose. Thanks to those two goals, Rogers is my vote for MLS Player of the Week.

Trades That Could Shake Things Up

    http://wvhooligan.com/ 2008/ 05/ 12/ trades-that-could-shake-things-up/

The middle of May is an interesting time in Major League Soccer. The summer transfer window is just weeks away, teams are starting to break away from one another and some clubs are finding out what they did or didn’t do right in the offseason.

Not So Fast Lunchbucket Lunchpail Blue Collar Hard-working tough

    http://yellow-chair-sports.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ not-so-fast-lunchbucket-lunch…

MLS washout and SI.com's resident soccer blowhard Greg Lalas praises the virtues of the Columbus Crew, a perennial MLS doormat who at the 1/4 pole of the MLS season has the best record in the league. He doesn't really attribute it to anything other than using an excessive amount of "blue-collar" adjectives to describe their play.
