London - Nokia on Thursday announced that major label EMI and a number of independents have signed deals to add their tracks to its "Comes With Music" service, which provides buyers of new phones with a year's worth of unlimited song downloads. read more

Nokia has announced details of its Comes with Music service, which will allow 12 months of unlimited music downloads on pay-as-you-go phones. From 16 October, the bundle will be sold for £129.95 exclusively from the Carphone Warehouse. The service boasts more than two million tracks, available first on Nokia’s 5310 XpressMusic handset and on more models later.

Ben Drury, CEO of UK online music service 7digital.com has slammed the newly-announced Nokia ‘Comes With Music’ service as “fatally flawed”. “Nokia’s new service is an interesting new model for digital music but at first glance seems fatally flawed,” Drury said.

The word is that Carphone Warehouse and Vodafone are in discussions with a view to Vodafone returning to Carphone Warehouse as a supplier, with talk of post-pay contracts and even more specifically mobile broadband. Vodafone is on the lookout for consumer connections and has even been assessing their options as the exclusive tie up with Phones 4u.
