    http://www.hockeybeat.com/ canada-destroys-germany-10-1-at-iihf-hockey-world-cha…

Wow. I almost beat my son when he groaned over Germany scoring a single goal in Team Canada’s 10-1 victory during the IIHF championship game yesterday. Can you believe that!?!?! As the Canadians scored goal after goal, I felt worse and worse for Germany. I like winning, don’t get me wrong, but a slaughter!?!?! Ouch.

Book Review: The Man Who Forgot How to Read by Howard Engel

    http://www.somisguided.com/ weblog/ book-review-the-man-who-forgot-how-to-read-b…

The Man Who Forgot How to Read: A Memoir by Howard Engel is not a literary masterpiece but it is a masterful work. Howard Engel, author of the Benny Cooperman detective novels, woke up one day and discovered that he could not read the newspaper. Not the newspaper, books, street signs, any written text.

    http://tracingthetribe.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ montreal-baghdad-jewish-familys-h…

Montreal filmmaker Joe Balass's unusual Mother's Day gift for his mother - a memoir of his Jewish family's history in Iraq - was featured in the Montreal Gazette. These are times Valentine Balass would sooner forget, but it does provide her son with some fascinating, if not harrowing, insights into a previously dark chapter in his family's history.
