“I realized that anyone running Perl code with the distribution Perl interpreter on Redhat 5.2, Centos 5.2 or Fedora 9 is likely a victim. Yes, even if your code doesn’t use the fancy bless/overload idiom, many CPAN modules do!

The relation between CPAN Testers and quality, or, Why CPAN Testers sucks if you don't need it

    http://perlbuzz.com/ 2008/ 09/ the-relation-between-cpan-testers-and-quality-or-…

by David Golden There have been some mega-email threads about CPAN Testers on the perl-qa mailing list that started with a question about the use of exit 0 in Makefile.PL. I want to sum up a few things that I took away from the conversations and propose a series of major changes to CPAN Testers.

Devel::NYTProf will knock your socks off

    http://perlbuzz.com/ 2008/ 07/ develnytprof-will-knock-your-socks-off.html

When Adam Kaplan first released Devel::NYTProf, I loved it. It stole the code grid feel from Devel::Cover, and it worked well. Now, Mr. DBI, Tim Bunce, has done some amazing work and released Devel::NYTProf 2.0. Follow the link and check out the screenshots.

    Automating the PowerShell Script Repository

    http://HuddledMasses.org/ automating-the-powershell-script-repository/

So, people keep talking about a better PowerShell script repository, and there’s at least 3 or 4 different people working on improvements, but for now, the one we have is working ok, and already has hundreds of scripts in it — but there hasn’t been a way to add or retrieve scripts from within PowerShell.

Win32::API source code repository and history

    http://use.perl.org/ article.pl?sid=08/ 05/ 24/ 1046205&from=rss

It required some trial and error on my part due to lack of experience using svn_load_dirs, but at last, we have it. The full Win32::API source code history throughout all CPAN releases. Check it out, it's hosted on google code, together with all others Win32 specific modules. Thanks to Jan for helping me out with this.

    Rate a CPAN module today!

    http://pjf.id.au/ blog/ ?position=536

Rate a CPAN module today! One of the tough challenges facing someone new to Perl, or even someone who has been using it for years, is navigating the huge number of modules available via the Comprehensive Perl Archive Network (CPAN). CPAN is very comprehensive, with the little stats in the corner listing 6,500+ authors, 15,000+ distributions, and 55,000+ modules.

    Big improvements in mini-CPAN tools

    http://perlbuzz.com/ 2008/ 05/ big-improvements-in-minicpan-tools.html

The minicpan tool in CPAN::Mini lets you keep a copy of the most recent revisions of each module on the CPAN. Having a mini-CPAN is a great tool for anyone with a laptop, or who wants to look at the CPAN as a whole, or who wants to create a mini-mirror of CPAN to support a large installation without having to hit the net for each module install.
