Myra Breckinridge by Gore Vidal
http://readywhenyouarecb.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ myra-breckinridge-by-gore-vidal…I am Myra Breckinridge whom no man will ever possess. Myra Breckinridge by Gore Vidal is much better than I expected, though much trashier as well. (I'm going to assume that anyone out there who might want to read the book already knows most of the plot, so spoilers will occur where they will in

Death Note, by Tsugumi Ohba
http://readywhenyouarecb.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ death-note-by-tsugumi-ohba.htmlSame old thing, day after day....what a bore. Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba is not the first manga novel one should read. But when I heard a review of the animated series on NPR's Fresh Air I found it's concept just too intriguing to pass by.

Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami
http://readywhenyouarecb.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 04/ kafka-on-shore-by-haruki-muraka…"So you're all set for money, then?" the boy named Crow asks in his typical sluggish voice. Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami is a twin narrative of isolation and connection. While on a class trip to the mountains during the second world war, Nakata and his classmates fall into an inexplicable coma-like sleep.

Zeroville by Steve Erickson
http://readywhenyouarecb.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 04/ zeroville-by-steve-erickson.htm…On Vikar's shaved head is tattooed the right and left lobes of his brain. Zeroville by Steve Erickson is a cult novel. You can tell it's a cult novel because it's full of very hip cultural references and it's hero is a disaffected wanderer with tendencies towards violence. I like cult novels and I liked Zeroville.

How to Get Suspended and Influence People by Adam Selzer
http://readywhenyouarecb.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 04/ its-good-thing-my-father-is-acc…It's a good thing my father is an accountant, because he really sucks at being an inventor. It's not that he hasn't given 110 percent or any of that crap: it's just that he never quite got the fundamentals right. For one thing, inventions are supposed to work. Furthermore, they're supposed to be thing that don't already exist.
