There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head. “Well,” she said, “I think I’ll braid my hair today.” So she did and she had a wonderful day. The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.

Today I am grateful for: The fact that it came as a real shock when M got home tonight grumpy, tired, depressed and defeated. I suddenly became aware of how much he has not been like that — not been that person I know so well — these past two weeks, and I gained a new appreciation of the real effort he’s been making since he started this new job.
