Filed under: Newborns, Pregnancy & birth, Money & work, Celeb parenting A few months after our older daughter was born, we set up an appointment to meet with a lawyer for "the talk." No, not that talk...the one where you make a hypothetical plan for your child, should you and your spouse be suddenly abducted by aliens at exactly the same moment. ...

I hate to do this to you.....

...but I have to tell you that I had THE most fabulous time away. I had the male equivalent of an all night sexfest with blonde Norwegian twin sisters and their best friend: Two whole days of glorious alone time. I got up early, had a luxurious shower, got dressed and went downstairs for breakfast.

At least I can doggy paddle

It’s so hard to think of what to say when life gets crazy. Finances are really tight, stress level is high. I am rarely able to get online or check email these days. In some ways things are really good. The family is getting along better than we have in a long time, and it’s really nice.

    My Songbird

Check it out…The Holy Tara kicking some serrus aissse at her school Chorus concert tonight. Do notice, besides her fabulous voice, the way she saves the thing from becoming a trainwreck because the other girl was too verklempt to sing. That’s not the first trainwreck the HT has prevented.

    Another Day Off

    http://hedonisticpleasureseeker.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 16/ another-day-off/

I have every payday off from work, which I love, and which explains why I still work at the same place after twenty years.  After the contractors leave my house this afternoon (I’m pricing out a new deck) I’m blowing my disposable income on organic seeds and hanging plants.  No, no, no, no shoes; I’ve done enough damage in the shoe department.

    Registered!

I just registered myself for the the Virginia Beach Rock ‘N’ Roll Half Marathon. I have paid the $90 entrance fee and have signed myself up for what may end up being the death of me. The race is Labor Day weekend. I have the summer to prepare for it… and I will need all the preparation I can get.

I thought I should share with you what I’ve been working on for the past several weeks… As you know, I’ve been working with my mom, Noreen, to create a set of memorial textiles (antependia - or sacred textiles) for my grandmother’s church.

    Guilt laden Mommy

    http://motheringtimes.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ guilt-laden-mommy.html

I feel guilty that I haven't been spending enough time teaching my boy. I spent more time teaching his sister before him because I had more time then. But time is only an excuse. When somebody really, really wants to do something, they will be able to find the time for it. So I'm laden with guilt.

    My piano lessons

    http://mumsgather.com/ 2008/ 05/ 16/ my-piano-lessons/

Time flies. Its almost a year now since I started taking my adult pop piano classes. “How come  you’re still not playing any pop songs?” asks my husband.  Well, I’m trying to learn Mariah Carey’s Hero now so he should recognise that one. I am happy to be able to play Beethoven’s Fur Elise and Baby Elephant Walk now.

Operation Disclosure Update: Just Another Goddamn Eve of Destruction

    http://hedonisticpleasureseeker.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 15/ operation-disclosur…

There have been SO many twists and turns in the saga of the worst financial crime in the history of the world (courtesy of BushCo) that it’s hard to tell whether or not this is a real turning point or if tomorrow, like every day before it, will come and go with no resolution to the Global Financial Settlement Plan(s).

One Step in the Right Direction…

    http://jeremiahandrews.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 15/ one-step-in-the-right-direct…

By LISA LEFF, Associated Press SAN FRANCISCO - California’s Supreme Court declared gay couples in the nation’s biggest state can marry — a monumental but perhaps short-lived victory for the gay rights movement Thursday that was greeted with tears, hugs, kisses and at least one instant proposal of matrimony.
