Philadelphia Eagles: Dream Team? Maybe Not, But Let's Not Panic Just Yet - Page 2

Defensively, the Eagles must be more fundamentally sound in the tackling phase of the game. They made Victor Cruz look like Bo Jackson. Nnamdi Asomugha is better than he showed and he won't play like he did vs the Giants very often.

Where is Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie? He is far too talented to be a non factor in games. There must be packages that will allow him to use his elite athleticism and make plays.

There are too many schemes up front where it looks like 3 guys are rushing the passer on every down and one guy is trying to play 2 gaps to stop the run. I understand and appreciate Coach Washburn's aggressive style of pass rushing, but the Eagles defense must be sound vs the run first. Teams in NFC East will pound the ball up the middle against a very average linebacker corps.

All of these issues can be corrected and I really do attribute some of them to growing pains and adjustments to new schemes. Blending talented personnel is also not as easy as it looks on paper. This collection of talent needs time together on the field which was significantly reduced by the lockout.

Make no mistake about it, the Eagles are struggling right now, but do not count this team out by any means. I fully expect them to win the NFC East and become a very dangerous team in the playoffs.
