NFL Picks Week 11
Welcome to the weekly NFL Picks post by DrD, where each week we discuss who will win and why. The opinions expressed are from knowledgeable followers of the sport, who research all facets of the match-ups. Their names are changed to protect their privacy and to add a touch of humor to the predictions.
“It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.”
Vinnie the Mooch didn’t say that. It was Charles Dickens, who, like the Mooch, must have been thinking about the difficulties of predicting the outcomes of football games. One week you’re royalty, and the next you’re a dumpster diver.
Let’s all be royalty this week, the best of times.

at DOLPHINS 2½ Bears
The fish come into this game after beating the Titans, but losing two QBs. Here they plan to start Tyler Thigpen, a third-stringer. The Bears sport one of the toughest defenses in the NFL and enter off a win over the Vikings. Vinnie the Mooch tells us, “The Dophins is only 1-3 at home and Thigpen is only 1-10 as a starter. And if that ain’t bad enough, they gotta kick it to Devin Hester. He figures to break at least one against the weak special teams play of the fish.” Taking the Bears with the points.
at JETS 7½ Texans
The Jets are making a habit of winning with last-second, come-from-behind victories. Their 7-2 record is tops in the league. The Texans enter with a 3-game losing streak, highlighted by last week‘s end-of-game “Hail Mary” blunder. Though QB Matt Schaub was hospitalized mid-week, the team says he’s a go for Sunday. Cheech reports that, “The Jets is 6-3 against the spread. The Texans is 2-6. When they met last year, the Jets won 24-7 and had nearly 3 times as much yardage.” Taking the Jets to cover.
at STEELERS 7½ Raiders
Pittsburgh comes in after getting whupped by the Patties last week, and Oakland enters off an overtime win versus KC. Though knocked out of last week’s game, Steeler WR Hines Ward hopes to play on Sunday. And the Steelers have replaced their kicker Reed with Suisham. Oakland’s on a 3-game winning streak. But Bobby-Big-Fingers says, “The Steelers is 4-1 at home, while the Raiders is 1-3 on the road. And the Steelers has 11 picks — watch for one or more on Sunday.” Taking the Steelers to cover.
