Eli Manning Needs to Step Up
Eli Manning has come to a vital point in his career. It's time for him step up and emerge from the shadows of his brother Peyton. The New York Giants are an aging, decrepit team. They need their franchise quarterback to step up or get out.
Eli will never have the absolute play calling abilities that Peyton has, but being a Manning is a hard name to live up to in the NFL. While his brother is having a legendary career, Eli has slipped into the category of mediocre at best. At his current pace, his career interceptions (115) will pass his career touchdowns (158) in no time. But, it's not completely his fault.
His team is falling apart at the seams. With injuries to two of his best receivers (Manningham and Hixon), his choices are becoming limited. Eli should use this as motivation, not an excuse. His brother, Peyton, has been the epitome of a franchise quarterback. No matter who was injured on his offense, they could put anyone in their spot and Peyton would lead the team to victory. Eli needs to prove he can do the same.
The team is his for the taking. It's time to take this challenge by the horns and lead his team to victory. Eli has shown moments of brilliance (He does have a Super Bowl MVP trophy), and will need to bring back those days to have any success with his current team. He has the ability to go down in history as one of the Giants all time greats. Now is the time for him to secure his spot in the Hall of Fame next to Peyton, not just be his little brother.
