Zurich Classic Preview & Fantasy Picks
The PGA TOUR is paying a visit to the Big Easy this week for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Jason Bohn was the 2010 winner and will look to defend his title against a very good field as the players go head to head with the TPC Louisiana golf course.
Jason Bohn will hope the to repeat some of the Zurich Classic magic he had last year to help jump start his 2011. The defending champion has struggled in 2011 making the cut in 6 of 8 events but only finishing in the top 25 once at the Mayakoba Golf Classic.
The 2011 Zurich Classic field will feature twelve previous winners including Nick Watney (2007), Vijay Sing (2004), and K.J. Choi (2002). Every winner of this event since 2001 will be playing but none have ever won here twice. Also contending for the title will be seven players with PGA TOUR wins in 2011. Nick Watney is the only player who has won here before and won in 2011 but names like Luke Donald, Bubba Watson and Rory Sabbatini will be looking for win number two and a jump up in the FedEx Cup standings.
Three Groups to Watch at The Zurich Classic
3. Justin Rose, Camilo Villegas & Vijay Singh: The way Vijay Singh is playing this year no one will be surprised if he has a win by the end of 2011. A second and third place finish to go with a couple of top 25's have given his confidence a boost and he knows how to win here, he did it in 2004. I can't figure out Camilo Villegas. I was expecting a big year from him but he's only made 6 of 10 cuts this year and his best finish in those six is a tie for 33rd. I keep waiting for him to break out but I'm losing faith. Justin Rose has made the cut in all nine events this season. Want more? He's been in the top 25 in eight of the nine with four top 10's.Continued on the next page
