Video: Former Texas Tech Coach Mike Leach Discusses His Firing
Throughout the whole saga of Texas Tech firing coach Mike Leach just days before their bowl game, we've heard from university officials, Leach's attorneys and Craig James, the ESPN analyst whose son Adam was reportedly locked into an equipment room by Leach himself. One voice who had been curiously absent was Leach himself, until agreeing to an interview with ESPN's Rece Davis.
True to Leach form, he didn't hold anything back, telling Davis:
"He's (Adam James) lazy, there's a sense of entitlement. Really, a guy we could never get to work hard and wanted to fall back on his father any time he wasn't playing. You had Craig (James) meddling in things all the time and you had Adam who didn't want to listen to his coaches and hold up his end as far as effort out there on the field."
There are also rumors, which Leach addresses, that he may not have been the most liked guy on campus and that the school was potentially looking for a way to get out of paying him the big contract extension he signed after last season. Perhaps locking a concussed kid in an equipment room was just the excuse they needed. Shouldn't have worn that hat backwards, Adam James.
