Scoreboard: The Clippers Upset the Lakers
A quick take on what happened last night in NBA hoops.
The Clippers are kins of LA: Baron Davis had 25 points and 10 assists, out-dueling Kobe Bryant, who needed 30 shots to get his 33 points. The Clippers have won three straight and are threatening that .500 mark as prized rookie Blake Griffin gets ready to make his season debut.
Things are getting back to normal in New Orleans: The Hornets beat Oklahoma City, and moved within one game of the Thunder for eighth place in the West. Chris Paul is getting some help, as all five starters scored in double figures.
The Wizards are about done: The team responded to the Gilbert Arenas suspension with a poor showing against Cleveland, losing by 23. For better or worse, the Wizards took on the personality of Arenas. Without him, they seem a bit directionless.
The Raptors are rolling: They have a soft frontline and some bad contracts, but the Raptors are separating themselves from the dregs of the East and scored a nice road win over Orlando. The Raptors actually could be this year's Magic — a funky roster that can create matchup problems against the right team and a bunch of guys who can bomb from three-point range. They wouldn't be a fun matchup in the playoffs.
Utah's not done: With talk of trading off contracts starting to set in, the Jazz appeared to be fading. Then they beat a hot Grizzlies team by 23. Utah might be the hardest team to gauge in the league.
