Mark McGwire Finally Talks About The Past
Why does a man with 583 home runs continually get less than a quarter of support among Hall of Fame voters? Perhaps it's that whole steroid cloud.
Sounds like the perfect time to man up and apologize. Former Cardinals/Athletics brawny ballplayer Mark McGwire has admitted he used steroids during his career, and apologized all in one fell news alert.
"I wish I had never touched steroids," McGwire told the AP. "It was foolish and it was a mistake. I truly apologize. Looking back, I wish I had never played during the steroid era." It's a stark contrast from "I'm not here to talk about the past."
So there it is. Mark McGwire took steroids. If you're shocked after this news, you may want to take your finger out of the outlet.
He's been the first true steroid bellwether on the Hall of Fame candidacy list. To make things even more interesting, Rafael Palmeiro will join him on the 2011 ballot.
So now you know the terrifying truth. But would you still like to see some dingers?
