KaraWatch 2012: Introducing Surgery Watch
Kara Goucher, pregnant Marathoner due September 29, is not only hitting the elliptical in her last few months of training - she barely leaves her house.
After experiencing back pain and cutting back on the light running she was doing, Goucher decided to step back and have a surgery that others never would have trained through, on her foot. Her initial plan upon becoming pregnant was to have this surgery once the baby was born, and recuperate from both experiences at the same time.
Many typical elite marathoners run 100 or more miles per week and complete many other conditioning activities to fill their days. At this point, confined to the house and recovering, Goucher has had some time to fill.
She has gone to the Prefontaine classic to cheer on her running friends, and admitted to feeling jealous while watching from the stands.
Kara is also spending some time learning French.
