Julia Lipnitskaia Shines at the Russian Cup
This season, fans and experts of figure skating from different parts of the world have already seen two young Russian skaters, who took the podium at various international competitions.
But it is safe to say that in the near future the current elite of the world skating can be diluted with much more new talents from Russia. This weekend in Kazan was held the Russian Cup stage which is the annual Russia’s competition. The event of the Russian Cup (original: Kubok Rossii) is held in Kazan many years and is invariable in the skating schedule of the Russian figure skating starts. Competitions are spent to 41st time, conducting the history since the USSR.
Julia Lipnitskaia won the gold medal performing two very strong programs and gaining a total of 185.72 points. Her result as well as the level of her skating can be compared with the scores which are currently gaining the most titled skaters of the world. Julia perfectly executed the most difficult jumping elements and its cascades. She also has shown a high level of spins, step sequences and choreography.
The second place took the winner of Finlandia Trophy 2011 Sofia Biryukova, gaining a total of 162.12 points. Such points as earned Sofia we also view among already world famous skaters. It’s notable to say that this result is not her best, so everything just starts for Sofia. This figure skater differs by the highest artistic and emotional part of her programs. Each of her movements on the ice corresponds to the musical themes of her performances. Not everything has turned out as it was planned but in general, both programs have shown a very big potential of this Russian figure skater, who will soon appear at the Grand Prix stage Rostelecom Cup 2011.
The Russian Cup's bronze medal took Elena Radionova, who gained 160.47 points overall.
Anna Shershak, who as well as Sofia Biryukova is trained by well-known former figure skater Victoria Volchkova, has drawn a general attention by high virtuosity of her performances. Her teammate Polina Korobeinikova, who has loudly enough declared itself at the stages of Junior Grand Prix, also hasn't bad proved to be at competitions in Kazan.
