Is Animations Dance Association A Sport?
Alexander Vasilkin, a Russian millionaire has moved to Los Angeles, the entertainment capital of the world, to take over the Internet. His goal: to discover animators, to make them athletes, and to make animation not just a competition, but a sport.
His brainchild, ADASport.com is the vehicle for this new sport - Animation Dance Association. With the support of dozens of programers, animators, actors, and producers, he is doing everything possible to make ADA Sport a real sport.
Is it working? Is this a sport?
There are animations of people and things dancing. People are voting. People are wearing uniforms. Prize money is being doled out. There is even a referee ... kind of. Though not much of a sweat is being worked up, they are trying to work up a sweat over the site.
What really makes a sport? Some people consider chess to be a sport. Cheerleading's validity has been debated for years.
Only time will tell if this will become, in Vasilkin's words, "the biggest sport in the world," but there is one place that you may decide if this is a real sport: Vegas. When someone starts giving ADA odds, then there will be no doubt.
