Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Learned His Wrestling Trash Talk While at The U
Now successful movie star, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's WWE wrestling days seem like a distant memory.
But even more distant a memory is the fact that Johnson was a pretty good college football player at the University of Miami in the 1990s.
As the ESPN documentary The U showed, Miami players had a certain way with words. As a wrestler, Johnson was perhaps the most gifted with the mic in pro wrestling history, skills he apparently honed at Miami, talking trash to teammates and opponents:
"In addition to we're gonna "hit, stick and bust d--- and talk s---" which was a saying we had, in addition to that, we were gonna outwork everyone in this country. And my time at Miami helped me in terms of creating The Rock. Really talkin' trash in an over-the-top way. It started back them."
