The Bruins and the Canadiens faced off tonight in a much-hyped match up that delivered if you're a B's fan. If you're a Canadian's fan, you're starting to plan for a long summer.

The Bruins have been in a funk as of late and tonight's match up was the culmination of some bad blood that has spilled during the last two games.

Tonight, the B's took the Habs to the woodshed and whooped them 7-0 in a convincing win that had a pulled goalie, a 5-3 short handed goal, a fight and line to line action that had the Garden in Boston rocking.

The Bruins won this game because they got the puck in deep and they kept grinding. Tim Thomas was outstanding and got his eight shutout and made 24 saves — some of them big.

The last observation from tonight's game was that the Bruin's powerplay seemed to be on all cylinders and in fact, played possessed. They were peppering the net with each man advantage and scored as well.

The win was an emotional win for the B's and help them earn a much needed two points, keeping the Habs off their heels and sending a message to the rest of the Eastern Conference.
