Twitter Aims High, Hopes to Have One Billion Users
Twitter co-founder Evan Williams expressed confidence that Twitter will get to one billion users (yes, billion with a "B") yesterday, reports Bloomberg. This is the same target number Facebook is reportedly aiming for, proving that Twitter's executives have no lack of ambition for the micro-blogging service's future.
Twitter has been growing quickly and relatively consistently since the beginning of 2009, when events such as the plane crash in the Hudson River and the attempted revolution during the 2009 Iranian election sparked a flurry of activity on the fledgling network. The service now has more than 165 million users, ranking it third in size among all social networks. Just recently the company rolled out a brand new user interface as well as new strategies for monetization.
