Facebook and Coke Team to Raise Funds
I hate Facebook apps, sorry. They're stupid, irritating, and serve only to build their authors huge databases of Facebook users with too much time on their hands. Yet this afternoon I used one, because it sent money to a worthy cause and got me a peek at a Superbowl ad .
Coca-Cola and Facebook have partnered to raise money for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Just hit the Coke fan page and click on the Live Positively tab, then send a virtua Coke to a friend. For every bottle you send (and every name they get, I'll admit) they'll donate $1.00 to Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Plus, they'll give you a sneak peek at this year's Coca -Cola Superbowl ad, featuring Simpsons characters.
The sneak peek isn't bad, but the money donation is the real payoff, especially considering Boys & Girls Clubs of America aren't the biggotted bunch of douches some other youth clubs tend to be (read: they won't throw you out if you're gay or atheist. Or a gay atheist).
