A Look at The 12 Additional Apps For Facebook Announced Today!
When it comes to Facebook, too much is not enough. What happened to the clean, white page look that initiated the site. Long ago and far away, like that ancient romantic song our great grandparents used to listen to in the 1940s. The trend is pasting stuff on every inch of your page so it is a mosaic of color. If you want white, go to the page on the Facebook site where you log in.
The new look is media brought to you by apps. Not to be outdone, Facebook launched 12 media apps for Timeline, joining social news apps like Yahoo!, Washington Post Social Reader, Digg Social Reader and The Guardian's social news app.
This is a continuation of Facebook's trend of launching apps which it did recently, 60 of them! These focused mainly on cooking, eating, travel, running and reviewing movies. The paradigm shift is one that Facebook intends in order to move its platform from a "local universe" of friends and family to one that is globally savvy, inclusive of sites that focus on world events and allow lifestreaming everything and anything interesting, not just Aunt June's lemon cream cake recipe and your dog Noodle the poodle's cute sleeping positions. People will be offered the opportunity to move their intellect beyond, "I am driving to the mall. What are you doing?" to "What do you think of The Guardian's latest article on Murdock relaunching another rag like News of the World?" Well, maybe not quite such a leap, but leaps.

Let's face it, 80+ social apps? That's opening the doors so that, together, family and friends can step through together and see that they're "not in Kansas anymore!" The point is, will they rue the day that they were transported away from Kansas via the Facebook apps balloon? Well, some may be annoyed with the invitations to clutter and be overwhelmed. Others will eat it up and maybe stay on Facebook for longer than their Twitter visits.
