Our Favorite Horse
http://therail.blogs.nytimes.com/ 2008/ 05/ 14/ our-favorite-horse/
Our Favorite Horse By Chris Tatti I took my son to the track for the first time on opening day of the 2002 Belmont Park spring meet. Finn was about 7 weeks old. His Mom and I sat in the backyard as he dozed in his bucket. The sun was shining and we had a great view of the paddock and a lovely picnic. About a month later, a horse named Spooky Mulder won a $12,500 N2L claiming race at Churchill Downs. His lifetime record was 2-1-0 in six starts. Three years later, we’re back at Belmont. Mom stayed home this time. Spooky Mulder was entered in a $100,000 optional claimer.
