DuPont and Dainippon Working on Nozzle Printing Technology for AMOLED Manufacturing Submitted by lalit on May 16, 2008 - 12:53pm. DuPont and Dainippon Screen have formed a partnership to develop new technology for manufacturing of next generation of AMOLED displays. It is widely believed that AMOLED displays will be successor to LCD displays. But the main problem with AMOLED today is cost of manufacturing. The two companies are collaborating to develop a technology that combines Nozzle printing technology of Dainippon with small molecule based OLED solution materials to reduce production costs involved in AMOLED. The combined technology will result in manufacturing process that prints AMOLED displays on glass as the ink-jet printer prints on paper. Currently OLED displays are made using a double process of printing and then coating OLED panels with that prints, making the total cost of production way more than LCD displays. DuPont and Dainippon are hoping that their partnership will bring cheaper manufacturing equipment, which will increase AMOLED production and reduce cost. [Via Slashgear] lalit's blog
