Reactions to story from Mudville Gazette
A sad tale...Three years ago, Abdullah Saleh al-Ajmi, a Kuwaiti soldier who deserted to fight in Afghanistan alongside the Taliban, sat in a detention cell at the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, while lawyers argued whether he was an "enemy combatant." U.S. counterterrorism analysts argued in a review of al-Ajmi's activities that he should not be released or returned to Kuwait based on the following: - That he deserted from the Kuwaiti army to participate in a jihad in Afghanistan; - The Taliban supplied him with arms, including grenades; - He admitted fighting with the Taliban,

Shocker! Former Gitmo internee becomes Splodeydope
http://justbarkingmad.com/?p=2848Shocker! Former Gitmo internee becomes Splodeydope May 7th, 2008 Yes, an “innocent” person “wrongfully” held at Gitmo became a suicide bomber last week. SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - The U.S. military confirmed Wednesday that a former Guantanamo detainee from Kuwait carried out a recent suicide attack in northern Iraq. A spokesman for U.S. military’s Central Command told The Associated Press that Abdallah Salih al-Ajmi took part in an attack in Mosul. But you’ll never get a modern liberal to admit that holding terrorists caught on the battlefield not wearing a uniform whilst attacking Americans is reason enough to judge them threats. UPDATE: Greyhawk at Mudville Gazette has a lot more on this than the MSNBC article. Including this: — That he deserted from the Kuwaiti army to participate in a jihad in Afghanistan; — The Taliban supplied him with arms, including grenades; — He admitted fighting with the Taliban, including engaging in two or three firefights; — He was captured by coalition forces in the Tora Bora region, an area once thought to be a hideout of Usama bin Laden; All of that and he was let go.
