Irwin Allen Night, BBC4
http://bigdumbobject.co.uk/ 2008/ 01/ irwin-allen-night.html
I started watching The Fantasy Worlds Of Irwin Allen last night, which was part of BBC4's Irwin Allen Night. I was expecting a classy BBC documentary, instead it was of those American shows with links straight out of The Simpsons... "You may know Irwin Allen from such hit films as Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea, and Towering Inferno, but to his friends..." I gave up after fifteen minutes so all I can say I learnt is that he used a lot of stock footage to shrink the budget, and hit an empty bucket with a stick to cue the "Star Trek side to side roll", one of his many "remarkable" special effects.
