“I’ll prepare my best, and perhaps I’ll get my chance.” –John Wooden If that’s the best he could do, who the heck am I? He used to spend thirty minutes at the beginning of each season instructing his team on the proper way to put on their socks. He did this to help his players avoid getting blisters which would adversely affect their play. Then I read the acknowledgement section in Shelby Foote’s opus, The Civil War, A Narrative. In it he talks about how the work on his finished product took twenty years to complete. And I haven’t been discovered yet? “You must be a natural,” they said.
