Federal judge orders CIA to turn over 2002 torture memo for review.

In an "unusual" move, U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein of New York yesterday ordered the CIA "to submit to the court a 2002 memo said to specify harsh interrogation methods used on suspected terrorists held abroad." Hellerstein will "determine whether it should be made public pursuant" to a FOIA lawsuit brought by the ACLU and other groups. The Aug. 1, 2002 memo was written by then-Justice Department official John Yoo, focusing "on the specific interrogation techniques that were deemed legally permissible at the CIA" and including "discussion of waterboarding."

Return
http://winnerofourdiscontent.blogspot.com/2008/05/return.htm...Haven't posted in 2 months. I guess I just get so fed up with everything that I don't know what to say anymore. Everything is screwed up. Everyone is screwed--whether you know it or not. The economic situation was predicted by many, one of them being Ron Paul. I heard a very good description of how the mortgage crises came about. It was on NPR, and it's the best descripton/explanation I've heard. Check it out. The other day we were sitting in our local fave lunch-time restaurant. The TVs on the wall are usually set to CNN on week days. Every news story they had was totally worthless. They wasted easily 3 minutes talking about a dog stuck in some guy's truck engine compartment. This was "CNN Headline News". Headline? HEADLINE??? Here, CNN. Here are some topics you could fill up your time with: -- Federal judge orders CIA to turn over 2002 torture memo for review. -- Ethics committee drops complaint against Vitter -- Hersh: Bush administration arranged support for militants attacking Lebanon -- Government asks court to block wider testing for mad cow -- FBI seeking records of 2004 Condoleeza Rice ethics probe -- Building Manager: D.C. Madam's Death Suspicious -- Special Counsel shut down probe of Siegelman case last year -- FBI search, leaked documents lead to renewed calls for ousting of Scott Bloch ... just to name a few ... ... but they prefer to talk about Obama/Wright, Myanmar, or an admiral that lied about sex in the Whitehouse. The MSM contiues to feed the people prurient "news" while the government continues down the road to fascism. And then there's Glenn Greenwald's piece in Salon, which talks about CNN and the Pentagon's propaganda partnership.
