Reactions to story from Sonoran Alliance
Bee campaign may have trouble navigating LD 26 according to liberal blogger.

Michael Bryan at Tucson’s Blog for Arizona has written some good stories in the past several months. He was front and center in the election integrity issue. But he has drifted pretty far afield with his latest story about Pima Supervisor District 1. He claims his “deep throat” told him that District 1 Republican candidate Joe Higgins was recruited by Al Melvin. The story is almost laughable on the face. Mr. Bryan claims the conservatives have declared “war on the establishment, pro-business, moderate Republicans.” One problem. Higgins is the pro-business Republican in the District 1 race.

Um, Not So Sure About That Mike
http://www.rumromanismrebellion.net/2008/05/07/um-not-so-sur...Um, Not So Sure About That Mike Michael Bryan is taking a bit of heat over at his blog for suggesting that Joe Higgins is a stalking horse for Al Melvin. I’m a bit leery of that one. The guy just doesn’t seem like Melvin’s cup of tea. I’ve been involved in disagreements with the man and never once did his veins pop out of his neck. I don’t think that his previous claim to fame in the political arena (forging a compromise on A-frame sign regulations) is the sort of thing that gets Melvin of his supporters particularly enthused. The folks over at Sonoran Alliance have a rebuttal of Michael’s theories. This will be the first and last time that I link to Sonoran Alliance as the result of agreeing with them I only have the vaguest notion of who Michael’s “deep throat” is, but the question really needs to be asked about who would benefit by trying to link Higgins with Melvin. Given who he runs with now, Higgins has a decent chance of peeling off some of Ann Day’s establishment support. The best way to prevent this is to have someone tell them that Melvin (who doesn’t even live in Pima County, much less Day’s district) is somehow behind Higgins’s candidacy, framing the whole thing as “Sensible Businessmen v The Looney Tunes.” Sounds to me like exactly the line I’d expect to hear from Ray Carroll and his allies, who’d rather not have to put out backfires while looking for Ray’s coveted third vote on the board.
