Some new information has been revealed about Nissan’s little brother to the upcoming 370Z. Due for a release in 2010, leaked images from Nissan’s GT 2012 meeting and previous sources reveal a first look at the upcoming sports coupe. The front end looks sleek and sharp, while the wide front fenders give the car an aggressive stance. Especially intriguing is the small three-quarter window seen here — differentiating it from other most other sports coupes on the market today. The rear-wheel-drive coupe will most likely have a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four fitted with Nissan’s Variable Compression Ratio technology. It may even use the Variable Valve Event and Lift system that’s currently in the Infiniti G37. The four-banger will hopefully have around the rumored 222 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque. According to Nissan, the new coupe will be the cheapest out of its sports car category. Performance figures may not match up to the Skyline GT-R, or the up and coming 370Z, but it will hopefully still be plenty quick. And it needs to be. With eager contenders from Toyota and Subaru just around the bend, Nissan will need to keep the car’s performance figures high, and prices low. So far, price estimates indicate the car will sell at around $23,973 — based on Japanese figures. + 7TUNE: 2010 Nissan FR Sports Coupe

Purported to be a vision of the now-confirmed 2010 Nissan 370Z, this darkened image is still slightly better resolved than the earlier scans of the car we’ve seen. The headlight treatment for the car looks a bit less radical than it did in the early spy shoots, which seems to us to be a very good thing. While we can’t be positive that the new Z car will look just like this, we are still hopeful that we’ll get a real look at the car during this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show. Give us your opinion of this sleek potential Z, in comments. + Jalopnik: 2010 Nissan 370Z?

Nissan released a statement today regarding the company’s financial position for 2007, as well as outlining a corporate plan for the next five years. In between reporting on the company’s great success in Europe last year (sales up 17.9 percent) and bold declarations for its future products (a leading zero-emissions vehicle by 2012), the release managed to sneak in some broad hints about vehicles we can expect in the coming year. While some new products like the not-for-North America Qashqai+2, the new Z, and the Cube were already on our radar, Nissan was nice enough to confirm a few rumored vehicles as well. The Infiniti G37 Convertible is said to be a go, though it’s unclear if it’s destined to be a retractable hard top or something more conventional. More intriguing still is the “mini SUV” item, which may be the recently reported “1-series fighter” we’ve been hearing about. Check out the full Nissan press release below the jump and tell us what you think of the five-year plan, in comments.
