Reactions to story from professorial confessions
Torn.
http://muserant.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 04/ torn.html
So, the drama of campus politics continues. One of the (many) issues that consumes people these days here is the sense that everyone is being unfairly, unjustly, and endlessly over-worked. A Schemer (one whom I don't particularly like) just came in to my office, saying angrily, "Seriously! Can you get all this done under 60 hours a week?! I can't!" and talking conspiratorially about writing a petition of Department Chairs Who Are Sick and Tired and Not Going to Take It Any More. Sigh. Although I have been bitter about my own tedious grading schedule and corresponding absence of social life, I am also a bit annoyed at the Schemer, and those of his ilk.
