    http://www.michigansportscenter.com/2008/05/michigan-dominat...

It isn't football, but Michigan ran away from the field to win The Charity Bowl and almost tripled Ohio State's total in the process. Thanks to all that donated these last few days and thanks to Fanblogs and EDSBS for running this thing. I look forward

Thanks to all for the outstanding effort in the charity drive for disaster relief. $20K doesnt just fall out of the sky every day, but you made it rain not in the name of titties and beer, but for a cause almost as good as, um, titties and beer.

Charity Bowl Update: Over $20,000 Raised

If you recall, earlier this week I implored you to give for the EDSBS/Fanblogs.com Charity Bowl. It was a donation drive for cyclone, tornado, and earthquake relief. I am pleased to report that between Monday morning and 8 pm EDT Wednesday night that the donation total was $20,176. That’s phenomenal, considering it was mainly spearheaded by college football blogs and we are now in the depths of the off season. The winning school was Michigan, coming through with $7,260. It was by far the most and more than the next 6 schools combined. Thanks to the Wolverines for stepping up. Ohio State finished second (natch), with $2,550. Florida finished a respectable third with $1,820. This really makes me hope that we try this again during the season when readership is at its highest. If we can raised $20,000 in three days while over 100 days from the start of the season, there’s no telling what we could do in the Fall.

Notre Dame, Other Schools Give to Charity

    http://notredame.stubhub.com/blog/2008/05/15/notre-dame-othe...

Notre Dame, Other Schools Give to Charity May 15, 2008 Notre Dame was one of the over two dozen major NCAA universities to contribute to charity in the first ever Charity Bowl. Fanblogs.com, a great place to get info on your favorite college sports program (and Notre Dame, specifically) has the whole thing covered. Although the Irish did not come in first in the competition, they were represented nonetheless, and it’s always good to involve yourself in such well-deserving endeavors. The purpose of the Charity Bowl was to increase participation in charitable contributions to the Red Cross, CARE and International Rescue Committee, amazingly helpful organizations which help in disaster relief like those for the Myanmar typhoon, China earthquake and even the continuing effort to aid New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. Notre Dame Fanbloggers contributed a total of $100 to the charity organizations. While that was nowhere near first place Michigan ($7,260), it is still worth a blog and worth congratulations. To the anonymous donors out there, the Notre Dame Blog salutes you. Competition in the spirit of giving is a great thing. Incredibly, the Charity Bowl helped to raise a total of over $20,000! Fanblogs said it best, when they said, “Wow. Just… wow.” To get Notre Dame Fighting Irish football tickets, go to StubHub.com.

    M Nerdiverse done good

Looks like the Michigan bloggers and readers stepped up big in the FanBlogs-sponsored fundraising effort. This all went down whilst I was out so I’ll only feel a little bit good about it. If you’re still in the mood to help a great cause the Swing to Cure Diabetes is on for May 19, 2008 and they’re always interested in your support. I don’t know if they have any golfing slots remaining. Cathy Schembechler is the honorary chair of the event which will go down at the Old Man MacKenzie’s M Course on Monday. I’ve been trying to line up an interview with former Michigan QB and co-chair Rich Hewlett, but he’s pretty tied up. MVictors.com is in with a hole sponsorship. Get some!

We've concluded the inaugural Charity Bowl and the results are… wow. Through the effort of the college football blogs, fans have made cash donations totaling $20,176 to emergency relief efforts of the Red Cross, CARE, and the International Rescue Committee in just 60 hours time. The offseason is here and there is little to keep the blogging juices flowing. So I wanted to look back and give my top 5 worst Glen Mason losses. This is not meant to pick open the Mason scab and scratch it till it bleeds again, but I thought it would be an interesting topic and give a springboard for others to give their thoughts on worst losses. To be fair I will post my top 5 Glen Mason ... mgoblog found this 7 hours ago on gophernation.blogspot.com [link] Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NCAA Football, Minnesota Golden Gophers
