Voting Enthusiasm Isn't Wasted On The Young
Party on. Epic fail. Twitter! And so forth.
It looks like the energized young'uns which helped elect President Obama in 2008 give less of a shit today than the last even-numbered year election. Gallup's colloquialism for this is "enthusiasm," which correlates but doesn't cause "not voting at all." But still.
As the voter gets older, they are more enthusiastic to vote, if not less unenthusiastic. Are you shocked? Then take your finger out of the socket.
The obvious rub here is that most people under 30 lean Democratic, whereas the 50+ crowd favor Republicans. (Again, why are you surprised by this?) It's all part of the GOP's master plan in building an aging machine which turns youthful, hopeful voters into crotchety, God-fearing citizens of the world.
I guess someone needs to make an iPad app that'll let today's urbane young scholar vote from the comfort of their own home, at which point they can forget who they voted for and then start looking up more LOLcats.
