Do As I Say Not As I Do: Tea Party Congressman Forces Mistress to Abort
Republican Rep. Scott DesJarlais is running for re-election on a pro-life platform. A recently revealed phone conversation reveals that the Bible-thumping congressman forced his mistress to get an abortion while he was still married to his wife Susan.
DesJarlais had told his mistress, “You told me you'd have an abortion, and now we're getting too far along without one," DesJarlais is quoted as saying. "If we need to go to Atlanta, or whatever, to get this solved and get it over with so we can get on with our lives, then let's do it.”
After the newly re-surfaced allegation, DesJarlais confirmed on his website that he adheres to the platform that opposes abortion. He asserted, “All life should be cherished and protected. Democratic Rep. Lincoln Davis who was defeated in 2010 by DesJarlais said that he had a recent conversation with DesJarlais' ex-wife when she confirmed the news that her ex-husband, a medical doctor had an affair with a patient, got her pregnant and then “begged and pleaded with her to terminate the pregnancy.”
“He made the recording himself and let me listen to it,” Susan added, “the woman who supposedly was the participant in the conversation said in (legal proceedings) that she did have an abortion.”
DesJarlais tried to blame the woman for becoming pregnant. He said, “You lied to me about something that caused us to be in this situation, and that's not my fault, that's yours.”
“Well, it's your fault for sleeping with your patient,” the woman had retorted.
