Carrie Prejean One-Upped By Miss California Hopeful
What is it about gay marriage that seems to find itself as a point of discussion among beauty pageant contestants in California? Is it on the application or something? Did a Bible study encourage all their blondes to spread the gospel through swimsuit competitions?
The stunning lady you see here is Lauren Ashley, who will represent Beverly Hills in the Miss California USA pageant. She must be trying to gather the support of the Christian judges by avowing her stance on gay marriage, echoed by ex-Miss California Carrie Prejean. Her opinion: she's not so much a fan of it. Thankfully, TMZ's everpresent phalanx had a working camcorder:
When talking to FOX News, she quoted Leviticus which says that men who do each other as they do women (awkwardly?) shall be put to death. Death! It shouldn't just be outlawed; it should be fatally enforced.
Notice how she validates her opinion by saying she has friends who are gay, and that there's no hate. I'm sure that'll be a fun conversation she has with them when they text message her back, provided that happens.
As a juicy postscript to this tale, the city of Beverly Hills has distanced themselves from Ashley, noting that they don't even sponsor a beauty pageant anymore, and that Ashley shouldn't have "any potential association with the city of Beverly Hills." Ouch. And that was such a trendy ZIP code to represent. Maybe she'll at least do better on Larry King's show than her mentor.
(Fun tangential fact: Other Miss Beverly Hills contestants include Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay. Just in case you were looking for someone to beat some sense into this young woman.)
