Bachmann: Gingrich in Bed With Pelosi
On Wednesday, Minnesota Republican Michele Bachmann blatantly accused rival Newt Gingrich of being in bed with Democrat Representative Nancy Pelosi. First, let us see what these two have in common besides both being ex-Speakers of the House.
On CBS “The Early Show” candidate Bachmann said this about Gingrich, “he was standing with Nancy Pelosi to advocate for a national sales tax on energy. That's not what we need right now in our economy. He was also the chief author of the individual health care mandate and that is what is known as Obamacare. No one wants to see that either.”
Candidate Bachmann, who won the straw poll there in August, needs a win in the Iowa caucuses on January 3, 2011. She is gambling on painting Gingrich as a wolf in sheep's clothing to the mostly conservative Iowans.
Candidate Bachmann has a hard row to hoe in Iowa. She only has 5% of the support, according to a Bloomberg Poll released Tuesday. She trails Herman Cain, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney and Gingrich.
Candidate Bachmann has implied it's too early to give up based on those numbers. According to her, “This is an extremely fluid race. Quite a few of the polls show that 70% of the people are undecided.”
As they say in the hidden hallways of the Congress, Politics Makes Strange Bedfellows.
