10 Questions That Won't Be Asked at the GOP Debate Tonight
1. Governor Perry, you like to tout what you call "the Texas Miracle." Yet, despite the fact that you have been one of the loudest critics of President Obama's stimulus spending, this "miracle" of which you are so proud was dependent to a large degree on the 125,000 new government jobs which were created in Texas. And you used $6.4 billion in stimulus money to balance your last two-year budget. So which is it, Governor? Did the Stimulus help create this "Texas Miracle," and would you like to take a moment now to thank the President for getting your state out of trouble?
2. Governor Romney, you say your health care plan was meant to be a statewide solution to a statewide problem. You were a big fan of the individual mandate before you were against it. Why would a solution that worked so well in your state NOT work on a national level?
3. Congresswoman Bachmann, you display a basic lack of knowledge about things that even a 4th grader knows. Your frequent gaffes include putting Concord and Lexington in New Hampshire, not Massachusetts where they actually are. You wished Elvis Presley a happy birthday on the anniversary of his death. You also claimed that President Obama released all the oil from the strategic oil reserve when the fact was he released 4%. You claimed that Obama has approved only one oil drilling permit during his time in office, when the actual number is around 270. Are you playing fast and loose with the truth, or are you just that uninformed?
4. Governor Perry, you once famously threatened to pull Texas out of the United States. Then you walked that back, saying that the Texas constitution gave Texas the right to leave the union any time it wants to, which it does not. And now you want to be president of the country you made everyone believe you wanted to detach from. Why should anyone take you seriously?Continued on the next page
