“Forest Friend“ Program Taps Youth to Save the World
WWF (World Wildlife Fund) the world's largest environmental organization in the world realizes that to save the world, he need to attract and got support from the young people.
By this reason, WWF invite the young people to get involve in rescuing the forest by launching “Forest Friend” program. It is a competition for young people aged 18-25 from German and Indonesia to do the campaigning for forest conservation.
This program held by the cooperation of German WWF and Indonesian WWF is opened in May 2010 and ended in August 2010.
At the end of this program there will be selected two participants (one person from Indonesia and one person from Germany) who get the most public support to be awarded.
They will get a chance to visit the national parks in Indonesia and German to know better about forest conservation. To achieve more tangible results from this program, then it is followed with a real action by planting 10 trees for each support received.
This program aims to use the energy, creativity and networking of young people to get as much as support from the whole world community in preserving the forests especially to the Indonesia forest.
By inviting and involving young people, it also purposing to make them to recognize the importance of forest conservation in their early age. In the future when they grow up and take a greater role in the lives and economic activities, they are expected to perform more responsible policies and action to the environment and the forest sustainability.
