Cows Can Produce More Than Just Dairy
Leon D. Weaver with Bridgewater Dairy L.L.C. has managed to set up the infrastructure needed to obtain methane from cow manure.
He then burns the methane gas to create electricity to run his dairy, making his operation at least partly, if not completely, self-sustaining.
Wouldn't be it remarkable if every dairy farm in the U.S. and other countries had a similar set-up that puts cow manure to use rather than letting it run off to pollute ground water and compromise air quality? The initial cost to set up the system will be high, but then dairy farms and ranches that contain hundreds of cows, producing tons of manure each day, will solve 2 problems when they invest in a method of harnessing the power of cow dung: 1) how to get rid of all that shit, and 2) how to cut costs and stay competitive by tapping into renewable energy.
