Alternative Energy Sources. Where Are They?
With the price of a barrel of oil sky-rocketing and no apparent end in sight, I have to ask the question, where are all those alternative energy sources I hear everyone talking about? What has happened with everyone having a windmill in their back yard, or more nuclear power plants? Why don't homes have solar panels making gas/electric bills obsolete? Why do we still have to fill our cars with gasoline that's imported from another country when we could drill and refine it ourselves in the U.S.?
Everyone seems to talk the talk when it comes to Global Warming/Cooling or Climate Change, or whatever it's being called this week, but no one seems to walk the walk. When I listen to someone like Al Gore preach to us about how we should buy carbon credits to reduce our foot print I wonder if we have stepped into an alternative reality where people actually believe this mumbo jumbo. What the heck is buying a carbon credit going to do to reduce pollution on this planet? Then theirs the environmentalist who feel we should all just quit using oil for everything right now. Have they have really thought that through? Our country would collapse in a matter of days with out any alternate fuel source.
Before Congress now is a Clean Energy bill. This bill is suppose to reduce pollution and create green jobs. Pres. Obama as well as environmentalist have said that passing this bill will lower carbon emissions, create green jobs and stimulate the economy. I know we need to do something and would love to see that something being done. But, why should we be taxed for emissions when other countries doing more damage to the planet could care less and are being charged nothing? Not sure why anyone would think green jobs are better for our economy when other countries have the same Clean Energy bill and have actually lost jobs.
I wouldn't have a problem charging up my car each night, or putting a windmill in my back yard, or solar panels on my roof. First show me pictures of Al Gore with a wind mill in his back yard, or traveling in one of those little battery operated cars. Let me see politicians and actors riding their bikes or taking a bus along with everyone else. If we are going to go Green then lets do it...together.
