On March 1, 2011, Lionsgate and HIT Entertainment release two DVDs starring two of their most popular characters. Angelina Ballerina dances onto our screens in Ballet Dreams, and Thomas the Tank Engine (Thomas & Friends, actually) rolls in with Pop Goes Thomas. Both titles will be available on DVD, as digital downloads, and as video-on-demand.

Angelina is a “mouseling” who wants to dance, and she’s passionate about it. Appropriate for ages two through seven, the episodes are “Angelina’s New Home,” “Angelina’s New Ballet Teacher,” “Angelina En Pointe,” “Angelina’s Ballet School,” and “Angelina and the New Music Store.” Even more fun is the bonus feature: “Create Your Own Dream Routine” game. The release of Angelina Ballerina: Ballet Dreams coincides with the publication of five new Angelina Ballerina books from Penguin Young Readers Group, and the launch of “Dress Up with Angelina” the first mobile app for iPhone/iPad Touch (within two weeks of launch, it was the number one kids’ app).

It’s back to the Island of Sodor with Thomas and his friends with the release of “Thomas & Friends: Pop Goes Thomas” (and it’s all new). Traveling through a world of imagination, Thomas shares adventures that teach about discovery, responsibility, friendship, and cooperation. The four episodes, appropriate for ages two through five, are “Pop Goes Thomas,” “Jitters and Japers,” “Thomas’ Crazy Day,” and “Pingy-Pongy Pick Up.” Also included are a “Sodor Hide and Seek” game and an episode of Roary the Racing Car, “Roary’s First Day.” Thomas fans will be pleased

With the abundance of Angelina and Thomas tie-ins available, these DVDs could make a great start to Easter basket themes (and they don’t cause cavities).
