CES 2011: Ford Gains Ground With Tech Savvy Customers - Page 2
Van Dagens maintained Ford’s strategy will continue to focus on enabling an eco-system that broadens what customers can do while mobile in their automobile. “We are broadening support for devices, not just bolting on phones to the car.”
At the annual tech-fest, Ford hyped its newly launched MyFord Touch-equipped vehicles, which feature a WiFi signal receiver that will provide Internet access, when parked, through a Ford-developed web browser using the system’s 8-inch touch screen. In addition, customers with a USB mobile broadband modem can insert the device into SYNC’s USB port to produce a secure wireless connection that will be broadcast throughout the vehicle, turning the car into a mobile hotspot.
With so much new technology to test, and quality being such a huge focus for the company, it will be no small feat for Van Dagens and team to ensure customers have a great – and safe – driving experience when they access services through the connectivity platforms and apps that Ford enables.
