Some of her most popular flavors are some you wouldn’t think to find in a cupcake. Maybe that’s where the fascination with cupcakeries comes from: creativity. Cak’n and Bak’n offers unimaginable cupcake flavors such as “Pancake”, “Sweet Potato”, “Irish Bailey’s Cream”, and “Strawberry Patron.” Flavors like these intrigue self-proclaimed cupcake connoisseurs of the world such as myself.
She also makes cupcakes in jars, martini glasses, and push up containers and even wants to expand to a cupcake truck. “My mindset is to take cupcakes to a place that they have never been,” said Dawson.
One can only imagine where cupcakes and their cupcakery homes will be once the fad dies.
Dawson’s answer as to why she doesn’t believe she’ll be in trouble when the fad dies down: “Every year someone will have a birthday and every year someone will have a celebration,” said Dawson. “If cakes have been around this long, I’m not worried about anything dying down.”
That still doesn’t answer my question. Why all the random sprouting up of cupcakeries? Is it a creative culinary competition and America is just so fat, our taste buds just can’t get enough? Are cupcakes the new black? Dawson seems to think the evolution of cupcakes is just getting started.
