The Vigilante Era: Rebelling Against The Establishment
This is one of many things that today’s society is lacking in.
Faith in what?
This is a question that is best answered in the eye of the beholder. For many it is faith in their respective religion, for others it is faith in the nation’s leadership and many have lost complete and total faith in the judicial system as it has been known to fail its citizens repeatedly and now more than ever.
At times such as these, a great deal of uncertainty hovers over everyone as they question whether they will be safe, whether they will have jobs, whether they can pay their mortgages and keep their homes, or whether they will be safe in those homes and if there is something for them to believe in.
Every once in a blue moon, there will be a group of people or even just one person who wants to take it upon themselves to try and change the world. It is these individuals who want to try and make a difference for those who fall in the 99% category. The top 1% of individuals in this country is of great wealth and typically has the power not to have to worry about the same things that we common folk tend to worry about. They can typically buy their safety and do not have to worry about losing their homes.
The top 1% is a representation of Corporate America and that is what many are stepping up to try and make a difference against.
These can range from any of the things that we are seeing in abundance from society right now, protests in order to try and make a change and an upsurge in vigilante behavior.
The most popular on the vigilante front is the group known as Anonymous. They are a counter-culture cyber warfare group that is about equality and the fight against censorship of the citizens. Anytime they feel a social injustice has been committed, they are ready to attempt to combat it and give a voice to those who feel voiceless. Are their methods legal? No. Are they always successful? Not as often as they’d like, but it is all in the attempt.Continued on the next page
