The Place Where Dreams Come True!
My family and I had planned a trip to Disney World, to celebrate our daughter’s thirteenth birthday — a special occasion, as we watch her grow up so beautifully and brilliantly right before our eyes. We are grateful to be her parents. Disney World holds magic for all of us.
We had been to Disney World once before, and from the moment that we set foot on the property, magic was everywhere. On our last trip, we planned poorly, weren’t sure where to go or what to do. So, this trip, our first destination was Epcot, and at a friend’s suggestion, I scheduled a "character meal." A "character meal" means that at specific restaurants in Disney, you can have a meal with characters from various Disney movies parading past, stopping at your table as you eat. This was truly our best decision of the trip.
As we waited in line to enter the restaurant, we saw an anteroom that everyone went through on the way to their tables. There, waiting to greet us, was Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She looked and sounded just like the movie cartoon character. I was in complete awe. She took a picture with us that we got to take home. That was only the beginning.
When we sat at our table, waiting for the server, along came Snow White, looking as perky and sounding as much like herself as she could. She was followed by Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella, and Mary Poppins. I was crying with excitement and joy.
We had spent most of our daughter’s childhood watching these characters in the movies that she adored and watched countless times. However, Disney brings to mind our own childhoods as well. I remembered that the first movie that I recall seeing in a theatre was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Then, I turned; there she was, standing at my lunch table, smiling at me. It was almost too much to bear.
Disney is the place where dreams come true, because when I was a child, anything seemed possible. Anything that I could wish for, or dream up, had the potential to come true. As I grew into adulthood, I forgot about that ability to dream and to believe in my dreams.
Today, I am learning to believe in my dreams again and to truly see them as coming to fruition. As I walk through Disney on this next trip, I will be carried away to all of my dreams, and remember that anything is truly possible if you just believe.
By the way, Tinkerbell says hello……..
