Responding to Haiti's Medical Emergency, One Life At a Time - Page 2
Recommendation No. 2. National Nurses United is another fantastic medical organization assisting Haiti by sending RNs to provide emergency medical treatment. NNU sports a bold heading on their website, “Building the RN Super Union,” and a prominent red button linked to SendANurse.org, which allows visitors to donate and help send registered nurses to Haiti. According to their "About" page, NNU has over 150,000 members, by far the largest such group of RNs in the United States.
One of their goals is to build stronger international ties with nurses around the world, and their involvement with the Haiti earthquake victim relief effort underscores their commitment to this endeavor.
Having experienced numerous medical crises, I know the value of having a good team of medical doctors and nurses providing excellent care and treatment.
Like the young boy on the beach, gently tossing stranded starfish back into the ocean, we can make a difference by assisting people in crisis, one starfish at a time, one act of volunteerism at a time, and one monetary donation at a time.
