Pupils Gain Valuable Academic Consequences When Math Tutors Combine Math and English Language Studies - Page 2
Math Problems Are More Successfully Solved When Expressing Them Through Language
The manner in which math tutors can adequately tutor both math and English unitedly is to have the students orally describe the process that lead to the answer of a mathematical problem. When the pupil can explain the solution of that math problem orally, the pupil should be reinforced to write the procedures that were required to get the solution. The pupil will benefit from being able to both gain a greater understanding of the math solution as well as recollect that information longer.
Oral and written communication takes practice, and as the student expresses a math problem through language, the pupil is obtaining more desirable language communication skills. As the pupil practices writing and orally explaining math problems, it becomes not only easier, but turns into a skill that the student enjoys with greater proficiency.
Combination of math and English language results to a much higher proficiency and competence than when taught separately. The student is able to think in both verbal and written language when attempting to answer a math problem, and this improves the students ability to not only solve problems, but to explain solutions and transmit concepts with others.
Tutors of math need to consider tutoring English language along with math principles. And the situation is there when both subjects are being taught to the same student or students.
